We will not lease, swap or sell your personal information to other organisations for use in their own marketing activities.
The legal basis that we rely on for processing your data will depend upon the circumstances in which it is being collected and used, but will in most cases fall into one of the following categories:
We may use service providers (such as direct mailing companies, marketing providers and software platform providers) to help us provide you with our services.
We may give relevant persons within these service providers access to your personal information, but only to allow them to perform their services for us. Some service providers may be based outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) however, we will endeavour to ensure that any data transfers outside of the EEA are carried out in compliance with relevant data protection legislation and that the processing of your data is subject to appropriate security measures.
Because internet infrastructure is global and it is not possible to predict the routes that information sent over the Internet will take, the information you provide may be transferred temporarily via a route which takes it outside the European Economic Area as it passes between you and us. By submitting your information you consent to this transfer.
We may disclose your personal/sensitive personal information when required to by law, for example, to HMRC for tax purposes or to police forces for the prevention or detection of crime.
We aim to keep all data up to date, amending our databases when new or updated information is received. This helps us to avoid mis-directing communications.
We may also analyse the personal information we collect about you. This is so we can contact you in the most appropriate way and with the most relevant information.
Please let us know if you would prefer us not to process your data in this way by telling us when things change.
Where you give us your consent, we may use your personal data in order to send you marketing communications in connection with the following marketing activities and services:
You can decide whether you want to receive this information and you can update your marketing preferences at any time by telling us when things change. From time to time we will also contact you to update and refresh your communication preferences.
When you purchase an item or product from our website or by mail order, we will collect certain information from you including your name, delivery address, credit or debit card number, expiry date, CVV number, email address and telephone number. This information allows us to fulfill your order and notify you of the status of your order.
All orders are fulfilled using a third party payment provider (WorldPay). Imray do not have access to any on-line credit or debit card details. Where credit or debit card details are provided for telephone orders these are immediately securely destroyed once the order has been completed.
Where you have given us your consent, we may send you information about other products that may be of interest to you by post, email, SMS or contact you by phone.
Depending upon the marketing preferences you select when registering your details, Imray may then also contact you for marketing purposes. Imray will not use your personal data for any other purpose unless you instruct us to do so.
When someone visits www.imray.com we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns.
We do this to find out information such as how our website was accessed and the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google Analytics to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. If we do want to collect personal information through our website, we will make this clear and explain what we will do with it.
We also use click through and open mail tracking when sending emails so that we can check whether the recipient has opened an email, unsubscribed, or clicked on a link to our website. This enables us to assess the effectiveness of our email campaigns.
If you purchase a subscription to a chart set or make another in-app purchase through our apps (Imray Navigator, Imray Tides Planner, Marine Rules and Signals, Boat Instruments), you may be asked to set up or log in to an Imray account. These accounts enable us to share details about your subscription and when it is due for an update across platforms (iOS, Android or desktop) and between devices. We hold information including your name and email address, what subscription you have purchased, when you made the purchase, and what devices are registered to your account.
If you apply for a job with us, we’ll hold the personal information you provide to process your application.
We may monitor recruitment statistics in line with employment and data protection law. If we need to disclose information to a third party, we will not do so without asking you beforehand unless the disclosure is required by law. For example if we need to take up a reference, or obtain “disclosure” from the Disclosure & Barring Service.
If you apply to work withus we’ll only hold your data for the purposes of that application. We won’t hold your personal information for any longer than is necessary for the purposes of that application.
