Digital Product Coordinator

 

Imray is the leading publisher of nautical charts and books.  Based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire the company is at a time of exciting change.  We are investing in the digital future, building on our internationally-respected range of printed books and charts to grow our digital presence and range of electronic products.   

 

We are looking for a Digital Product Co-ordinator to be at the centre of this digital transformation. 

 

Our digital portfolio includes established iOS and Android apps, a newly-launched web app and in due course, a new ecommerce website. You will work closely with our development partners and customers, co-ordinating our commercial objectives with delivery of features and content.  

 

The right applicant will be able to manage their own work, manage and manipulate data and content and contribute to the strategic direction of the digital product portfolio.  

Attention to detail, an analytical approach and excellent communication skills are essential to this position as the digital gatekeeper of quality assurance and Imray’s trusted reputation. 

 

An enthusiasm for geography, mapping and navigation would be a great advantage, supporting our app users and co-ordinating between our in-house cartography team, content editors and developers.

 

Whilst knowledge of the marine industry is desirable, a minimum degree level of education is required. Full in-house training in nautical charts and hydrographic data will be provided. 

 

Outline of tasks

Apps/digital products 

Working with external software developers and key members of the Imray team on the development of our suite of navigation apps, both iOS and Android versions. 

Working with software developers to prioritise, evaluate and test digital products, using Agile methodology

Identifying issues to feed back to software developers

Problem solving and providing technical support to app users

 

Data management

Organising geospatial data for use in digital products 

Maintaining and updating content for digital products and keeping related documentation up-to-date

Sourcing, manipulating and georeferencing data, eg photographs, chart notes, corrections, tidal data for use in digital products

 

As part of a small team, there will be supplementary tasks including involvement with the development of production systems, database work, documenting procedures, converting data, preparation of material for digital product marketing, attending relevant events and training sessions as necessary

 

Requirements

Essential:

Ability to research, analyse and compile information

Good communication and interpersonal skills

All applicants must be able to demonstrate the right to live and work in the UK.

Desirable:

Experience of Agile project methodologies

Experience in geospatial data processing using ESRI, Caris, MAPublisher or other GIS applications

Experience of data manipulation using tools such as Filemaker Pro, FME or other database systems such as MS SQL. 

Qualifications in a geography-related discipline

Interest in sailing, navigation and nautical charts

 

Our offices are in the centre of St Ives, between Huntingdon and Cambridge, where there is free parking and good access to the guided bus to Cambridge.

 

Competitive salary.  Company pension scheme.  Full time post with the opportunity for flexible hours and hybrid working. Start date January 2023.
