Editorial Production Assistant
Imray is the leading publisher of information for leisure sailors. The company is at a time of exciting change as we build on our long heritage, international reputation and well-established nautical books and charts to create a new generation of products and services. Our nautical books are written by leading sailing authors and clubs and cover key sailing areas worldwide.
The role
The role of Editorial Production Assistant is based in our nautical book department and would suit someone with good organization and basic editorial production skills with an interest in travel publishing. It’d be an ideal first or second job for someone with an interest in design and words. You will work closely with the Editorial and Design team on the editing and production of new titles and new editions.
Tasks include
Desktop publishing, using Adobe Creative Suite to assist with image corrections, photo editing and book layouts Correcting manuscripts
Proofreading and basic copy editing
Compiling book supplements to support our books
Uploading text and images to our website using a content management system
Compiling and distributing email newsletters using Mailchimp. Additional social media work may be available if desired.
Departmental admin including emails, photocopying and other routine tasks
About you
Studied to degree level
Good communication skills and happy to work within a team
Highly organised with an eye for detail and an interest in words
Ability to pick up new processes and procedures
Good editing and proofreading skills
An understanding of book or other design printing and production processes would be advantageous but not essential
An interest in travel, geography and sailing would also be useful.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop would be an advantage.
Terms
Contract Full time permanent role
Location Wych House, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, with some flexibility. Our offices are in the centre of St Ives where there is public parking and good access to the guided bus to Cambridge.
Salary The compensation associated with this position is competitive and will be agreed during the interview process based on skills and experience.
