We're recruiting for a Cartographer/GIS technician
Imray is the leading publisher of nautical charts and books.Based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, the company is at a time of exciting change as we build on our well-established printed books and charts to grow our digital presence and range of electronic products.
We use a combination of specialist Geographic Information System (GIS) software and graphic design software (mainly Adobe Creative Suite) to design our nautical charts. We are in the process of overhauling our geospatial database and production systems.
We are recruiting for a cartographer/GIS technician to work on the production of our nautical chart range. This would ideally suit someone with ideally 1-2 years experience but graduates will be considered.
The role involves using GIS tools to process and edit marine source data, label and compile charts. Other tasks include updating and correcting existing charts.
There would be the opportunity for the right applicant to get involved with developing new geospatial data systems and workflows.
The right applicant will have a good eye for detail and an analytical approach, an appreciation of good design and layout and a high level of computer literacy. Whilst cartography/GIS qualifications and experience are desirable, a minimum A-level standard of education is required. Full in-house training in hydrographic applications would be provided.
